Lake House Remodel
Full Home Interior and Exterior Renovation
This lake house remodel in West Kelowna involved a comprehensive renovation of both the interior and exterior of a 2,805 square-foot, five-bedroom lakefront home. The project focused on improving functionality, updating finishes, and creating a cohesive design throughout the property while addressing the unique challenges that come with renovating an existing lakeside home.
Throughout the interior, new engineered hardwood flooring was installed, along with updated light fixtures, doors, paint, and millwork to create a consistent and refreshed aesthetic across all living spaces. The scope of work included a full kitchen renovation, multiple bathroom upgrades, and extensive improvements to the main living areas on both levels of the home.
Upstairs Renovations
The upstairs renovation included updates to the main kitchen, living area, primary bedroom, ensuite, and main bathroom. The kitchen remodel involved removing the existing ceiling to install a vaulted ceiling, creating a more open and expansive feel. A wall between the kitchen and dinette area was removed to improve flow and sightlines. Existing appliances, cabinetry, countertops, and lighting were replaced with contemporary selections, and a new backsplash was installed to complete the space.
The main bathroom was fully renovated with a new vanity, bathtub and shower combination, toilet, and tiled flooring. The primary ensuite was also remodeled to accommodate a new shower, improving both layout and functionality. In the main living area, the fireplace was updated by removing existing panelling on either side and installing a new granite mantel, creating a cleaner and more modern focal point.
Downstairs Renovations
The downstairs level was remodeled to create a legal suite. This included repositioning a wall to form a second bedroom, removing several walls in the main living area to create an open-concept layout, and building a kitchenette. The downstairs bathroom was also renovated to include a walk-in, wheelchair-accessible shower, new flooring, and an updated vanity, improving accessibility and usability.
Exterior Improvements
Exterior renovations included the installation of new windows and the replacement of existing siding with new vertical vinyl siding. Trim, window frames, soffits, and related exterior elements were repainted to give the home a refreshed and cohesive exterior appearance. Additional outdoor enhancements included importing and spreading white sand in the backyard and installing a new boat dock, further improving the functionality and visual appeal of the lakefront property.
As with many lake house projects, working within an existing structure required flexibility, coordination, and careful material selection to ensure durability in a waterfront environment. Each phase of the remodel was approached with attention to detail and craftsmanship to ensure the finished home felt unified rather than a collection of disconnected updates.
