Heritage Home Renovation

Interior and Exterior Renovation of a Victorian Home (Built 1906)

This heritage home renovation involved a comprehensive series of interior and exterior updates completed with careful attention to the original character of a three-storey Victorian home built in 1906. The goal of the project was to contemporize the interior while preserving the historical integrity of the property, requiring a thoughtful approach to design, materials, and execution.

Understanding and adhering to local heritage bylaws was a critical component of this renovation. All work was planned and completed to ensure compliance with heritage requirements while improving the functionality, comfort, and longevity of the home. Renovating heritage and character properties requires careful coordination to ensure new elements integrate seamlessly with existing architectural features.

The scope of work included multiple bathroom renovations, kitchen updates, and extensive interior improvements throughout the home’s 2,518 square feet. The third-floor ensuite bathroom was remodeled to allow for the installation of a stand-up enclosed glass shower. On the second floor, the main bathroom was updated with a new tub, vanity, and toilet. A new half bathroom was added to the main floor, including the installation of a vanity and toilet, improving overall functionality.

The kitchen renovation included the installation of a new backsplash, updated countertops, new appliances, and cork flooring. In the main living area, the fireplace was refreshed through retiling and painting to better align with the updated interior finishes while maintaining the home’s character.

Throughout the home, engineered hardwood flooring was installed, new light fixtures were added, and the interior was repainted to create a cohesive and refreshed aesthetic. Exterior improvements included the construction and installation of a new fence and landscaping updates designed to complement the architectural style of the property.
